On a windy morning of December, I was in a park enjoying
so called sunny day by reading a book written by Jeffrey Archer titled - Only
time will tell. I was deeply engrossed into the character of the book. I saw a
lady gardener who was planting the saplings. She was singing a song in her
vernacular language. Though I was not able to understand what she was singing,
still her voice was sweet which has attracted my attention. Her joy was immense
that could be visibly seen on her simple face. I saw few kids playing barefoot
around the lady. They were hardly of five or six years. With a thin shirt and
torn sweater, they still had the warmth in their heart that made them play merrily;
giving tough challenge to the weather that gave goose bear to others. Though
their life could be miserable still there was no regret of the situation in
which they lived.
I felt how mean we become when we are educated,
start living comfortably, enjoying the luxuries of standard life. We crave for
more and wish to have all that is even tough to attain or worthless of
achieving. We invest less of efforts and want to reap maximum benefit whereas
the deprived ones wish to live heartily certainly with what they have. Greed does
not touch their simple and pure heart, nor are they worried at all.
The attitude of gratitude is which they carry
made me realize how poor I am, in terms of happiness; I lead a stressful life,
struggling hard to maintain and manage my name and fame. To earn more than what
I require so that I can expend on my luxuries which actually is of no use.
The kids were happier than me. They knew how to
entertain themselves and be the true part of the bounties of life. Their joy
was true reward to the creator. In return they shared their gratitude for
giving life;
They taught me the greatest lesson of life. To
be happy, materialistic wealth can be lethal. In fact the life can be the most
beautiful one when we kill the thought of growing materialistically. I realized
that my attitude towards life was incorrect.
Well I learnt true attitude for gratitude of what
the lord has shared and I am blessed with.
